Spanish cedar

Has anyone used Spanish red cedar for handle material? Went to pick up some free firewood from a guy and he gave me 2 boxes of cedar blocks

I've used eastern red cedar. Don't know how different they are, I didn't much care for the stuff.

It wasn't a very attractive wood. I tried different finishes. Some almost looked like cheap cherry. The other thing, I always wondered how the oils present in the wood might effect any bonding. Since most of my blades have been narrow tang that really wasn't going to be a problem, I just wondered anyway.
It was such a boring wood I don't think I ever took a pic on one of those blades. It would be a nice spacer material.

I've used a bit of eastern red cedar also, for non-knife stuff. I would consider it too soft for a knife handle. It also tends to rust any steel that is in contact with it (as in nails). I've found some really beautiful grain in a few pieces, however, and have considered having some stabilized.
