Where is this pocket knife from?
My gran found a pocket knife in her house today when clearing out, she has had it for many, many years (50+). The only markings on it are Stainless Sheffield England (on the bottom of the blade). Then on the front of the pen knife it says “10,000,000”.
We are wondering why it has 10 million engraved on the front of it and wondered if anyone has any ideas of what company made it or approximately what year it was manufactured. Link to photo: http://imgur.com/FGKxoQy Any information would be really helpful! Thanks in advance |

Knives have been produced in Sheffield since the early 1300's. Looks like this must have been some sort of commemorative knife, maybe promoting a production goal. The term "stainless" dates back to 1915. (Before that, it was "rustless" or "rust free".) So that puts the knife between 50 and 100 years old. Probably not valuable, but still a pretty neat knife and in great shape.
