Talking Been awhile and glad to be back at it

Been a little while since I was on here last as that darn thing called work got in the way of the real money maker. Anyways here are a couple i got done over the last couple months.
Both are a variation on a bird and trout that I scratched together. One will have Zebra wood with blue liners and the other is going to have African Blackwood with white liners. As always any and all conversation is welcome and i'm glad to be back for awhile.

That's a good looking job on both of those knives. The African Blackwood that you found has some good figure to it, I've had some that were almost a solid black. The Zebra wood looks good too. Have you been able to use them any since you finished them to see how well they hold up? I noticed that your lawn was green and not white when the pictures of the second one were taken.

I didn't get a chance to use them as the zebra wood knife was a trade for a custom coffee table that cousin of mine made and the blackwood went to a friend that guides big game hunts here in Montana. I did get some feedback on the black wood and it handle two elk before needing a quick sharpening so that is promising. And we didn't get cold weather or snow till after thanksgiving where I live which was awfully nice compared to the norm.

Sounds like you did good if your friend was able to field dress two elk before it needed sharpening. I'd rather have a knife that you can easily put an edge back on than one that will hold an edge all year but then need a ceramic belt to sharpen.

We had a late winter here in central Illinois too but we payed for it with a solid three days of rain and swollen rivers.

Haha yea no sheaths yet for these two. My sheath guy was way to busy with christmas orders when I brought them to him but hopefully here in the next month or so he can whip a couple together. I never have gotten into the leather side of the craft. Someday maybe.........

I know how you feel. I HATE leatherwork and I'm not good at it. I just have to order sheaths (if they're leather and not kydex) online because I don't have anyone close.
