It was just the lighting that made it look darker in the other picture. I agree it does look better in that picture.
I also lost some of the texture as the sides were smoothed down. I always struggle with shaping material like stag, jigged bone, I want as much texture as I can get but it's never easy to get a good balance.

Does anyone thin super glue with acetone to help stabilize mammoth ivory?

Now, where do you buy the mokume and ivory? I've been looking for both and the few sources I've found just don't appeal to me.

The mammoth ivory on this knife was purchased from "Miles of Alaska"
Sadly he has stopped selling ivory.

I have some ivory from fineturnage.com that I preparing to put on another folder. They seem to offer a wide selection and reasonable prices.

The mokume was from Jantz or Texas Knifemaker Supply.

Very well done! It fits and flows very nicely, Clean. I'm sure he will be proud of that knife and really appreciate it for a long time to come. I hope to make something similar for my kids. Good work. Thanks for mentioning about the pan head vs flat head screws, its a great tidbit to know.
