Jon,

Your third knife!? You definitely have a future in this game. Wish you had been in the Chat Room so we could all discuss this little beauty!

Kevster,

We missed you in the room too, although we did have a pretty big group anyway - always room for a couple more! That new one is shaping up nicely ...

Thanks for the kind remarks. Although I am new to making knives, my years of experience as a lapidarist, silversmith, and wood worker have given me an edge when it comes to knife making. A knife after all is really a consolidation of all of those skills into one neat little package. That does not mean I have not struggled immensely in achieving the results displayed in that knife. I did everything twice, sometimes thrice and to be fair I have several baggies of knife shaped objects that were ultimately abandoned and relegated to testing, lol. While this knife is not perfect, it is a fair representation of my dedication to the art. I feel it's what you don't see when you look at a knife that makes it a thing of beauty. I look forward to representing and supporting the knife making community to the best of my ability as I learn and grow in the knowledge of this fine craft.

I'd probably just shoot myself. But, if that doesn't work for you, then try putting either a buffalo horn or a steel ferrule between the blade and the tusk. Dremel a hole into the tusk for the tang, shorten the tang even more if you must. Once the tang is in drill through the tusk and tang for a pin to secure the blade. If you will look in the Tutorial Sticky at the top of the forum you'll find a tutorial at the bottom of the list that I wrote on how to get a single pin handle like that to fit up nice and tight. Might be useful in this case ...
