Found a Knife... would love to know history?
Hello- I bought a home and found an old knife up in the rafters. It looks like something from the arabian nights movie. Is there any way to post a couple of pictures on this website so folks could see it and let me know if I have a treasure or a piece of junk?
Thanks for any advice!

It's probably a piece of junk but, then again, you never know until you ask. You can post pictures using the Attachments button near the end of the screen when you're writing your post. But, you'll probably need to wait a while until you've done some more posting as the system can prevent first timers from posting pics until we verify they aren't spammers...

Thank you for your reply Ray. I've read quite of bit on the site, but just signed up today as a member. I'm not the most electronic savy guy in the world, so you do know, will I get a message saying I can attach pictures at some point? Right now on the bottom of the page I'm on it says I may not post attachments.
Sorry for the non-knife related question!

if you have (or can make) a photobucket account you can just put your picture on photobucket, then copy and paste a link to your picture in your post here.

No, I don't think you'll get a notice but you will see the Attachments option become available. It doesn't take long, just a few posts.
You could try Photobucket as J.Lec suggested but I'm not sure those pics will show up here until you get out of the probation period. However, you could try a new website I've found recently called ypix.me You don't need to sign up or make an account with them, just drag your pic onto their screen. That will give you a URL to the picture. It also offers a Shorten button which will translate that long link into a very short one, I suggest you use that option. Then, come back here and include that link in your next post and we'll be able to use that link to see your picture ....

Maybe you could email the pic to one of the mods?

Thanks for the suggestions, sorry for the long wait. I got nailed with Influenza B and it really knocked me down. Bad Virus! I'll try your suggestions. Like Ray originally said, it's probably a piece of junk, but it does have some inscriptions on it which makes me think that perhaps it was a military issue or something? Look forward to your comments!

Thanks Hondo. I sent the links in. Someone has to approve them before they get posted (maybe Ray?). Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Wow! Cool find! The engraving picture is out of focus so I can't be sure but I think that is Thai writing and the overall knife looks Thai to me. It looks better than the common tourist knives that come from Thailand, I think that was a real knife meant to be used. I don't think it would be terribly valuable but it probably isn't worthless either. It may only be 30 or 40 years old but it could be 100, I'm not an expert, but it's got some age to it. It's not junk so don't clean it up. If it has any real value cleaning it would probably hurt it.....
