Arizona Knife Collectors Association

Does anyone have any info on the Arizona Knife Collectors Association? Their website: http://arizonaknifecollectors.com/ Has some unkind things on it from the webhoster. Does anyone know if this association is essentially dead? I paid my dues at their last knife show, but did not ever get the change to go to a meeting, because they only run from January-November. I am bummed out, I really liked the knives of some of their members, and was looking forward to learning a lot as I am a lowly newbie.
Thanks!
-Todd

I don't know. I haven't been involved with that group for a long long time. I think they have had some troubles with politics and policies in the past... but that's just hearsay.

I was just at their annual show too. Pretty good, though I think with the # of dealers etc there it lowered the atmosphere a bit. And there was some knife-throwing going on in one corner that made me cringe...every once in a while a knife would fall to the floor with a clang and everyone would jump.

I met Michael Miller, Hans Weinmueller, Red St. Cyr, and a few other really nice guys.

Anyway, I paid my dues at the show *last* year and never heard a thing. Never made it to a meeting, either. Shrug.

Loved the "Clang"

I was there also and I did enjoy it. They are supposed to move the show up a week next year. I had a good time, sold some knives, and did a little bit of demo with Red St Cyr, and visited with some very nice strangers.
I have no idea about their web site. Maybe it is under revision or something.
The "clang" was not bad from where I was set up.
Kept trying to get back there and make my own sound.

As mentioned in the post right above this one, visit the following link. . .

http://www.arizonaknifecollectors.org/

and then go to the "Newsletter" section, then select "2007 December". There is a rather lengthy explanation there as to what's happened. What it boils down to is that there was a civil war of sorts, and what you are seeing is some of the fall-out.

It's really sad that grown adults have to act like this and spoil it for others. Someone really needs to have a timeout and go sit in the corner for a spell.

There was an Arizona Knifemakers Association based in Phoenix at one time,... long ago. I was a member. It fell apart due to internal feuding and no longer exists.

The original Tucson Tribe of the N-TMs also fell apart due to internal feuding.

It must be the heat!

Mike, I just read that newletter in question. Both sides have solid points, IMHO. However both sides need to just sit down and talk instead of taking potshots at each other.

And people always ask me why I'm not a 'joiner'. I don't need that kind of crap...

I'm starting a new club: Lone Wolf Knifemakers, Anonymous. There are no dues, no meetings, no logos, no newsletters, and no website. All of our members claim ignorance of the existence of the club.

Wow...Interesting newsletter.

Sounds like they all need to step back, take a Midol, and try again

Yes its a sad state of affairs,,the rest or us just love knives and the folks that make and collect them.

lets all stand shoulder to shoulder at the camp fire and sing songs
don't forget the marshmellows.
