Ron, what was the deal about a smaller stamp applied to M-2s? and when were the dates... approximately? I just don't look at that many early M-2s,

Jack,
Up through WWII, Model 2's carried the large stamp (The first couple made had no stamp at all). The first placement was on the blade and then subsequently the ricasso. The small stamp wasn't in existence until just post WWII, and the Model 2 was a good candidate for this as there just wasn't much room on the ricasso for a large stamp. The small stamp was then used on Model 2's into the 60's at which time the blade grind was changed to give the ricasso more real estate such that the large stamp could again be used. Best, |
