Just received a set of stabilized California Buckeye scales from Frank. A customer had told me about him, so I thought I'd give him a try. Absolutely beautiful wood, just about exhibition grade. Because I'm building a composite handle for this guy(recon turquoise/buckeye) I wanted buckeye scales that were mainly gray with not a lot of "cream" in them.
Gave Frank a call and explained what I needed and three days later exactly what the doctor ordered arrived. Can't beat that for service or price. Figure I'll be trying his Mosaic Pins also; he's a hell of a lot cheaper than TKS or Sheffield.

I have been putting together a web site for Frank Jacobs (the wood guy)
It is about done with the exception of adding some more text and replacing the knife pictures (I am not happy with the scans that he provided). Trying to show as much detail as possible, I really pushed the outer edge with the size of the graphics for the wood and the mosaic pins. If you have the occasion to check it out please let me know if the pictures load to slow. Frank is offering some great product at great prices

Absolutely goergeous stabilized woods, if the real thing are as good as the pictures I will be ordering some when I run out of my current supply. One thing though I couldn't find the demensions for either the stabilized woods or the length of the mosaic pins.
Thanks
Steve

Let me assure you the pictures do not do the beauty of the wood justice. Sorry about the sizes not being prevalent. I will fix that. The pins sell in 12? lengths; they finish just under 12?. Handle material is sold in matched sets. The set that I hold in my hand each piece measures 5 1/4 ? x 1 7/8? and is just under 7/16? thick.

How did the web site work for you? Did the pages load ok?

I am using dial up so I will probably be slower than average, or anyone else out there, and I had no problem. The pages loaded fine. One suggestion, you have links to the dyed woods on the bottom of the page of stabilized woods but not links to the other stabilized woods. I looked at the stabilizd dark maple and then wanted to look at the stabilized light maple but couldn't link to it even though I could link to the dyed maples. But overall nice wood nice sight.
Thanks
Steve

Didn't have any problem with the site being slow, nice and fast; 'bout the only problem was when ordering Mosaic Pins. Be nice to stick a price there(I knew the 1/4" were $15.00 from talking to Frank) before you go to checkout. Also, after selecting from the first pulldown(#5), then putting NO in the other two, I hit checkout and got "field has no data". Was settin there puzzling that out for a minute or so, when it automatically went to my shopping cart and the entry was there and correct. The Buckeye scales I've received so far measure 4 7/8 x 1 5/8 x slightly over 3/8. I'll be trying some of that green dyed maple(saw a knife at a different site with that, and thought it looked fantastic) and the clear madrone. Let ya'll know what they're like.

Thanks for the input on the site. I posted the prices on the pins. Not much I can do about the pull downs. Seems to be the nature of the dam things.
Yes the green wood is really special. I am anxious to try it myself.
Thanks again
Bob
