Scott
If I remember right ......
Can't I take a left at the court house in Homer and follow that road to your house.
Any turns ? you'll be on the right. How far? I was thinking 8-10 miles..

Carey's knife

Ok here is the picture of Carey's Knife that he donated to the Georgia Guild for the John Poythress Scholarship fund. It will be raffled off at Scott's next week. I know the picture stinks, (I think I could have done better with a trail cam), but the knife is really a slick, pointy, little forged cutter that feels great in the hand and makes me wish I had a stringer of bream to clean. You will have to check with Carey about the steel he forged if from. I can tell that it has black linen micarta scales matching micarta pins and a fine leather fitted sheath.

Unless we hear different from Scott the drill on Saturday will be the same as always. The board will meet at 8:00. The Guild general meeting will start at about 9:30 and last until it gets through. The demonstrations put on by Carl and Wayne will follow with lunch, Iron in the Hat, and the John Poythress Scholarship knife drawing following the demonstrations. If you know a Guild member give him a call and encourage him to attend.

Be sure to let Scott know in time to plan ahead. These meetings aren't hard to do, but it helps to have an idea of the number. If you can't let Scott know come anyway if you get the chance. He will plan for a few extra. Don't forget the Iron in the Hat stuff. The more tickets we sell, the better we eat. The food is always worth the trip up to Scott's by itself.

As always if you have a demonstration you would like to see, give me an e-mail and we will see if we can find someone that will do it. If you would like to donate a knife for the John Poythress Scholarship fund let a board member know and we will reserve a meeting for you. The next knife has been donated by Will Dutton. If you would like to host a meeting snag a director and let him know.

Hope to see everyone there.

John , yes , turn left at the court house and go about 8-10 miles , turn right at the new white water tower and follow signs to the house . There is one 4 way stop between the court house and water tower , go straight thru . SCOTT

Nice looking knife Carey !!

Looks like I'm going to have to miss this one. Family coming in from out of town so I probably need to be here if I want to keep living here.

Sure hate to miss a chance on that raffle.

You guys have a good time and I hope to see you at the next one.

Carey

Carey I ended up having to miss it too. I hope that they had a good time and that they will post some pictures so that we poor soles that couldn't be there can see what was going on.

Carey and Harry, sorry you guys missed a great meeting. Great weather, great people and great food as usual.

Changing of the guard: Scott Davidson - President, Randy Scott - Secretary, and Craig Schneeberger - Board Memeber at Large

One new Voting Member - Congratulations David Roberts, Columbus, GA.
Two new visitors - Michael Steele and Melzar Nye (see you guys at Trackrock I hope).

All you bladesmiths that didn't show up missed a treasure load of plunder to pick through. My good friend Boone brought in a truck load.

Thank you Scott and family for hosting the meeting. Most excellent weekend!

First, my apology for I did not get her name. Second, I believe she is the wife of one of the Columbus group that attended the meeting. Third, she was very excited to win the knife.

Thanks Randy. I knew someone was going to be happy. That knife has been in our safe since the February meeting and it has been hard not to give it a try. Charlie was bragging about how good the meeting, the food, and demos all were. I'm sorry that I had to miss it.

Randy,

If you can get the winner's contact info, I will see that she gets a certificate of authenticity.

I'm glad to hear that the knife found a happy home and that everyone had a good time.

Carey

I think she is the wife of Kevin (?), one of our newer members that is on the board with the Knifemakers Guild. They were both at the Twins' for the winter meeting in Feb.
(I think Randy and Craig were so busy going through the plunder on the back of Boone's Dodge they got distracted. You missed out on a good "Dig" Carey)

I was the next ticket number, but being the gentleman I am, I let her go first!
And yes, she was very excited about winning your knife, (I don't think I would have squealed quite so loud).

I looked up Kevin at the Guild web site and sent him a message last night. Imagine my surprise when I got a 'Thank You' card in the mail from his wife today. Ain't life funny.

Carl, seems like I heard someone say something about your squeal not being real pretty. (Just kidding)

Take care,
Carey
