abrasive belts

were are you guys buying your belts. I am trying to rebuild my shop after a couple of years . I espcially need finer grit 1x42 belts for sharpening for friends. also need a leather belt the same size. There used to be a huge list of
suppliers on the forum but I am unable to find it.
thanks,
steve aka sashcord

I just ordered some new belts from www.industrialabrasives.com I'm not sure if they are any good yet but they do have great prices and many styles/sizes.

Trugrit (trugrit.com) has the 1x42 and they also have leather belts but they don't post them on their site, you have to call.

Try www.supergrit.com. They're good people and they have a wide selection of abrasive belts.

I get all mine including 1"x42" from Klingspore.Great selection and good prices.Even use them at our shop on my day job. Dwane, I hope you have better luck with yours than I did. Many years ago I ordered a small batch to try out and had 4 of them break on me immeadiately. That will get your attention quick when grinding a 10" blade .I even got some 60 grit scratches on my nose from one of them after it less loose. Not the way I want to keep my nose to the grindstone.Dave

Eldon Perkins just did an experiment, comparing Industrial Abrasives 36 grit Paco Belts to several high ticket ceramic belts. The industrial abrasive belts lasted just a long as the other belts.
This applies only to 36 grit belts and roughing operations.

I use at least 6 dozen a year and have never had a problem.
