I do alot of cord wrapped handles as well, I think they work great on practical/tactical type knives where grip retention, cost, weight, might be factors. The only thing I dont like is that in my mind a cord wrapped handle is not as durable over time as say a micarta scales , and if not done properly can wick moisture to the tang.
