Sandwich making.....

Hey Ed. Have you ever tried to sandwich a carbon steel cutting edge between two pieces of titanium? San Mai style. It's getting toward winter and I'm thinking of projects. HA!
Kevin.

I've never tried to do it. I can remember way back when Tom Ferry came to my shop, held out his hand and dropped a small chunk of pattern welded material into my hand.....I looked at it, and asked his "Is this what I think it is?" "Pattern welded titanium?" He grinned and said "yes". I handed it back to him, and told him I didn't want to know anything about it until he had his patents lined out......and never have even thought about doing it since. It's just one of those areas that because I have friends who do it, and I respect them greatly.....it's their "baby".....I stay away from it.

Thanks for the replys. Ed, I was just thinking of anodizing a pocket knife and extending the coloring to the blade too. Not really needing ti on the outside, just wanting to do a little color matching is all. I suppose blueing would work also.
