belt grinder help
While helping a friend move his sharpening shop equip. some stuff off a trailer was stolen. One of the machines was a speed-cut 2x72, 8" wheel, w/ reversable 1hp. motor. Can you folks recommend a replacement grinder, coote ? they have afew misc. motors left. thanks

I would say that the Coote is a good replacement.

Y/W. Remember that the Grizzly contact wheel is mounted on the motor. You cannot get a reversible motor for it, in fact you can't change anything about the motor, like replace with a variable speed etc. And when you grind to the left, you hit the motor housing, unless you have a 10" wheel. The Coote on the other hand, has the motor mounted seperately, and pulleys to the contact wheel. That means you can mount any kind of motor you like, plus you can mount pulleys to alter the speed, if you don't want to go with a variable speed motor. __________________ Mike |
