Propane Burner

I am in the process of putting together a propane burner. It is the design by Rupert Wenig, that was on the Bob Warner's tutorial on building a porpane forge (http://www.knifenetwork.com/workshop..._warner.shtml).

My question is what type of regulator do I need for the propane supply(pressure range?)? Will a regulator from an old gas grill work? Is it a good idea to put a needle valve in line for better flow control?

I have a 0-30psi adjustable regulator on mine. I use the same design. Was about 30 bucks from an ACE hardware. Works great. Allthough I could use a gauge. When I first fired it up it was full out. Talk about dragons breath. Dan

The 0-30psi regulator that Dan uses, is in the correct range and as he said a guage is a good idea so you can tell what pressure you are set at for different types of work. No, the BBQ grill regulator will not work. To low and to short a range for forges. Darren Ellis also sells regualtors at a reasonable price. The needle valve is a must if you want to be able to fine tune your forge at any set pressure. You do not want to use the regulator for fine tuning control. Just make sure all components are propane compatible. Some are some aren't. A quick cut off ball valve at the tank is an added safety feature.
