Goater, kick the chocks out from under that ol' truck and roll down the mountain to Blairsville, GA this weekend and visit us at my Trackrock Hammer-in. There will be lots of variations of forges, anvils, and tools and a few demos on scrimshanding, tong making, bladesmithing, and maybe even some flint knapping.
I'm sure we can find something to entertain you. Notice/info on GA Guild subforum here at KNF. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Actually, I got a free weekend with the wimmen-folk off on a Girl Scout trip. That may be some cheap entertainment for me. Wait, would there be things for sale, like and ANVIL? Maybe not cheap entertainment! I'll check out the other forum thread. __________________ Find me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gpopecustomknives/ Gloria In Excelsis Deo!! |

Actually there have been several anvils bought & sold over the years. Very sporadic but does happen. Thing is to have $$ in hand, they don't sit long.

Goater how heavy is your present anvil, 25 lbs? Here's a 70 pounder made in USA, rated five stars by reviewers who used it for $339.54 plus $40 shipping. On Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Big-Face-NC-A...C6DSW56DQ156XB At the Anvil Brand web site it's $284. https://www.anvilbrand.com/NC-Big-Fa...Tool-P798.aspx Here is a link to their anvil web page Goater. They have a lot of anvils, but the one I referenced above is from the NC Tool Co. https://www.anvilbrand.com/search/result/?q=anvils And here is NC Tool Co. web site they have some nice anvils, another 70 pound for $264. http://www.nctoolco.com/products.php?cat=Anvils One of the things I noticed in the reviews was everyone said it didn't dent and was hard and good for making knives according to one guy. |
