6 OZ. Leather for a Bowie Sheath ?

I have a big hunk of 6- 7 oz. veg. tanned . I made one skinner sheath with it but just isnt thick enough.
Can I glue the rough sides together to make like 12 oz. ???

Im making a sheath for a Bowie 10 in. blade- the guard is 3 in. tip to tip 3/4 wide- square flat handle 5/8 thickness. I dont know If you would really call it a Dress Bowie maybe a Plain Dress Bowie.
Ron
Ill get a photo of the knife - I need some ideas maybe like a Frontier City Slicker thing ?

I personally use 10oz for big blades and for blades smaller than you're showing. To get the clearance for the blade thickness (so it doesn't get too pinched in the sheath) I use about 15oz (it's real thick!). So I don't think your 2x 6oz will be out of place. I'd use simple contact adhesive to join the two. I use that for sheath liners.
