Hi Chris,

Start by setting your 'white balance' on your camera to the incandescent bulb setting (Indoors). Here's what's available (according to one website review):

Quote:
White balance (Auto, daylight, cloudy, fluorescent 1/2/3, incandescent, flash) - no custom option, unfortunately
Use more exposure as well. Come back and show us the difference.

Your cleanup work by software worked wonders. Lets not rely only on that. Get it right at the source.

Hi Coop, Thank You, !!
What Do You Mean By More Exposure?
I will set the White Balance like you Suggest, Look up in the Manual!!!
And I Agree, I don't want to Rely on software touchup all the Time.

Will Give it another Go.!!! Thanks!!!

Slow the shutter down 1 step or go 1 f-stop down to get more exposure.

Hi Chris,

More exposure = brighter. SIXFOOTER is correct: Decrease the shutter speed or decrease the f-stop (aperture). Both of these assume you are shooting in Manual mode, not Auto mode.

Keep that manual handy! Show new examples.

O.K. this is what I tried, I used the Programmable Mode "P" and set the Iso to 200, and it has a 'DRO' mode for focus, and "Incadesent" Lighting

This was Shot with the above settings no Touch-up

Also Tried this Hunter which has a Mirror polished Blade, at the same Settings. Also No Touch-up

Hi Chris,

Well, you are MUCH closer to your goal now than you were. At this point, light positioning will help: On the scrimmed piece, less reflection on the blade and more on the handle would highlight this better.

I constantly move my lights to highlight the areas of interest. You may also change the blade positioning to achieve this. Move it in the box, and don't simply accept the blade laying flat on the bottom. rotate and support it with a small balled up piece of tape with the sticky side out.

Once you have the basics of lighting and camera settings, then you can move onto a slightly more colorful background. Go easy initially.

Good work.

Coop

Thanks Coop,
I see the Camera also has a "Brightness" Setting in "P" mode, it goes from 0 to -2 and 0 to +2 will try this as well.

What type of lights should I use, Maybe get some more Smaller Flood lights? , The Spotlights I Have Don't seem to give me Enought Light.

I Agree will play with Backgrounds once I have the Photo's RIGHT.
Thanks Again for Your Help.

Nicely done, Chris.

Looks like color balance issues are very close, if not perfect, and you now have the ability to overexpose your work. I'd step it back a notch, but it's sure clear now.

What new lights did you acquire?

Coop

Underexposed: too dim. Unatural to the eye.

Correct exposure: Just right. Looks natural.

Overexposed: Brighter to the point of too bright.

Whatever lights you have they're working now. Sounds like you got daylight fluorescents. Smart.
