Try this

Try using an 18% grey card. Get everything set up, lights on etc. then place the grey card in the tent. Set your aperture to what you want (F11-F22), then aim your camera at the grey card and adjust your shutter until the built in light meter is in the middle. (assuming it has one) If your camera has a "custom white balance" setting, use the image of the grey card for your white balance. This will give you perfect color and exposure every time. If your shutter speed is below 160, use a remote or the timer on your camera. I hope this makes sense.

Chris, one thing that I have done is to take a pencil erasser and cut it about 2/3rds lengthwise and use it to prop the blade to adjust for glare as needed.
Hope that this might help as well.
