Aldo also has some .156 thick in stock according to website. I have some of it and it is closer to 3/16 like .170 I prefer this size over 3/16

I didn't see it mentioned, but what is the criteria on getting the grind line? Freehand? Jig? Bubble jig which is freehand with help on the angle? Curious.
Also, I am working on the Heat Treat KITH now. Should have that done in a week or so. Hoping to have time to try the Grind Line KITH as well.

The point of the KITH is to encourage you to take your grinding to the next level beyond a simple flat grind. Hopefully, you will do the grind free hand. However, that isn't a requirement so do whatever you feel is right for you ....

That is what I figured Ray, just checking. I have poor hand dexterity, so I have not finished a freehand grind yet. Every knife I attempt I actually do 2, one I use a jig to grind the blade and one I try freehand. So far I have only ended up with one knife... you can guess which one
 If I can get the Heat Treat KITH done and have time for this KITH I will do it freehand. Can't promise I will put my name on it if I jack it up though lol.

I ended up using my jig because I wasn't confident enough free handing it. Sorry but it is much better blade this way.

It's practice that will give you the confidence to grind freehand. What you have will do just fine but don't let that stop you from trying to do another one free hand....that's how we learn.

Rules are simple - any knife you want to make as long as it has a nice clean grind line on the blade. A 4" blade is big enough and free hand grinding is encouraged but not required. The point is to get people to try free hand grinding and also to make something other than a full flat ground blade.
If you haven't already submitted a Heat Treat KITH blade you'll need to do that too. The instructions for that are in the Sticky threads in the first post of the thread. Don't bother to put a handle on the blade and no fancy finish is needed but it should be sharpened... __________________ Your question may already have been answered - try the Search button first!

Yup, but the other knife is just a blade with your best heat treat on it to prove that your heat treat process actually works. It really shouldn't take more than a half day to produce this blade because it can be ugly and scratched up and without a handle. It just needs to be sharp and properly heat treated ...
