12c27 sandvk supplier
I'm interested in trying the sandvik 12c27 and 13c26 stainless steels.......the only supplier I have found is Admiral Steel. Does anyone know other suppliers? Has anyone used these steels for folders without first precision grinding (from Admiral it's only available cold rolled). Interested in any other experiences with these steels.
thanks jeff |

Until some others get dealerships from Sandvik, Admiral is about your only option for a supplier of either of those steels. Be aware that the steel comes to Admiral on huge "spools", and very often when you receive whatever you order, it will not be absolutely flat. Every piece I have received has had a "bow", and required straightening before use.
I've used a good bit of 13C26, and currently carry a "flipper" folder that I made from that steel. I will call it a "decent" steel. I personally feel that cyro treating it is a must. Without cryo, it just isn't much for cutting or edge holding. I'm actually going to finish up my supply of 13C26 and then replace it with CPM 154. __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |
