Straightforward hunter / utility / EDC
Wondering what you guys thought of this piece. I tried to keep it simple as possible. I'm conscious of my prices going up as my work improves (I hope). I wansted to have something straightforward but still had all the nice features associated with a forged blade - distal taper, flat grind, convex edge, tapered tang, balance, selective hardening and satin hand rub. Still wanted to keep the price down ... No embellishments... Keen on your feedback. Jason.

I was thinking about this just last night (the concept you are executing, I mean). I think it's very cool.
What's your effective shop rate on a knife like this versus one of your high-end pieces? __________________ Gabe Newell |

Gabe, if I made only these (nothing else), I could make 8-10 of these a month, completed with sheaths etc. In reality, combined and organised together with my other existing orders it works out maybe 4 or 6 per month. Forge, grind x4, HT x4, finish x4, sheaths x4. The improvement in effective work output is significantly increased. The actual hands-on time is about 1/4 to even as little as 1/5 the time spent on a higher end piece like the damascus bowie I posted recently (and I didn't even forge the damascus !!) Jason.

Soooo...about a $25.00 knife Just kidding! I think the knife is great, and I'll get one from you eventually. I really like it.

I like it Jason !!
Nice clean and simple.... Good quality materials, top quality craftsmanship, and a top shelf blade-smith, I'm sure this style of knife will give a person many years of hard service, and then some. I would bet you'll sell plenty of these. Darren __________________ DarrenP.Reeves Custom Hand Engraving Billings, Montana 1-406-245-3444 Knife in Avatar Dream as if you'll live forever. Jason,
As a newbie maker I have kept a close eye on your work. I aspire to make knifes that are as attractive and functional as your knives. This looks to be a VERY usable knife. I love the simplicity of this knife yet you keep the features that a knife needs. I?ve been saving my money for some tools for my shop but I might have to dip into it to get one of these knife sometime in the near future. Cheers, |

It is a great solution to the problem you had. The knife is nothing fancy and does the job well done. I like the temperline... it gives some style... stating it as a true custom, afordable, but one you can really trust.

Jason, excellent knife - all business. More importantly, a very good concept for using knives. I have also noticed the increase in your prices, but justifiably so because demand for your cutlery has not appeared to wane.
Good job. |
