Birch

Anybody know what the birch used on Norwegian knives for handles is called.
Is it curly or spalted.
Have to make a knife for a family reunion.
Take Care
TJ

There are both birch burls, and curly birch. The burl is like any other burl, but in curly birch, the bark has grown into the wood and created brown streaks + there will be "flames" in the wood.

Regards,

Johan
