Orange crush
Dana
I really like that name for the press. I was trying to think of a name I could put to it. Now I have it. Thanks Dana. Dennis wants to put pin up girls on his like the old airplanes had. I'm not much into that type thing but "ORANGE CRUSH" fits the bill. I can't wait to see the knives you are doing Dana. Knowing you they will be something special, I'm sure!! Thanks again Dana Jim |

Holy crap Jim! That one would turn Spock to the dark side!! Was gonna ask you to build me one, but that is way bigger than my needs! Whew! I'll have some stuff heading your way in a few days.

Too funny Jim, only 30 gallons of hydraulic fluid!
I was wondering if you actually picked up the mega grinder, but there it is. Good thing it has a guard on it, hate to get thwacked if one of those belts let go. Great toys, hope that blanchard grinder gets up and running easily, Craig |

This is a 4 cyl Kubota engine. It was a redi-arc welder before. I don't have 3 phase power in my knife shop and I wanted a 25h.p. or bigger electric motor to run my pump. It was very expensive to buy and I had this welder around for years that wasn't used much so I thought I would convert it to a power unit. It will be sitting outside my shop and will have hoses coming in through the wall with quick couplers. It will also run my rolling mill.

i have a three cylinder diesel motor off a little ford garden tractor that runs great and i thought about using it to do the same but did not want to hear it run the whole time i was forging,i got enough noise with all the other stuff i have running while i'm working in the shop!but that will do great and it beats letting sit around go to crap from non use!

We got the power unit running this afternoon and wow does it put out. I have a 8" bore cylinder and it moves fast. I was a little worried it might be a bit slow but it is perfect. We needed to adjust the pressure so I took a 2"x4"x 1/8" piece of rectangle tubing and put pressure to it. It "CRUSHED" (thanks Dana) like a piece of tin foil. Pressure was only set a about 1000 psi. We bumped it up to 3000 psi and bottomed it out on soild plate. It actually makes that 37 horse power engine snort. I am really looking forward to "CRUSHING" some hot steel. I don't think the noise will be bad as it will be outside a wall without windows or door. Jim |
