You said this will be your FIRST KNIFE, not your first folder!? If you have never made any knife before you may well be biting off more than you are ready to chew with this particular project. Multi-blade folders are considered to be rather difficult to do correctly.

"How to Make Multi-Blade Folding Knives" by Shadley and Davis has patterns for several multi-blade folders although I don't think a trapper is one of them. However, if you are ready to build a folder you should be able to adapt their info for any type of slip joint folder.

Another good way to get a pattern for a trapper would be to simply take aone apart and use the pieces for your pattern. If you don't have one that can be sacrificed, consider buying a trapper kit from one of the knife supply houses and use the parts for your pattern.

Please let us know what happens on this project whether you succeed or not.......

Check with http://www.knifekits.com for the kit. If they don't have a trapper kit, get a catalog from Jantz or one of the other knife supply houses, they all have those kits. You can find contact info for them on my Links page at http://www.rayrogers.com/links.htm

You should be able to find the book through the link on my Books page at http://www.rayrogers.com/books.htm
