Where can I find High Temp Insulated Wire for connecting HT Oven elements?
Hello,
I've been trying to find some "high temperature" wire for connecting my HT oven elements to the power supply, and I'm having a hard time finding a source. I've decided to connect both ends of my 3000W element to two stainless steel bolts running through he bricks at the back of my oven, and now I need some wire to connect to that. I figure that the insulation on standard wire will get too hot and melt, but I wasn't sure what the best high temp wire was (I.E, what heat tolerance should I use?), and where I could buy a couple of feet without having to shell out the big bucks for a 50-100 ft roll. Any suggestions? Last edited by ARCustomKnives; 08-25-2009 at 11:19 AM. |

I used to build HV electroplating units and used Teflon (PTFE)wire. It was the same stuff used on submarines to withstand the corrosive environment. However I don't remember what the upper thermal tolerance for it was.
So if you search the net you narrow down the results by using 'Teflon wire'. |

Thanks. I did a quick search and it seems that the average tolerance is about 200?C.
Is this what everybody uses? Can anyone else confirm this? Any other suggestions? |
