Silver Bullet
This is a little larger than most of my offerings (7" overall length), and it is the first blade I have done in CPM-S30V. Scales are mother of pearl, pins are sterling silver, and the hairline spacer is red construction paper.

that's a beauty, don!
did you move the ruby? or is this something i missed? __________________ wayne things get better with age ... i'm approaching magnificent |

Yup, moved the ruby to the lower part of the ricasso. After I polished the ricasso out, I discoverd a pit or inclusion in the steel. I solved the finishing problem by relocating the stone.

Great looking knife Don, as usual.
Just plain old construction paper? Like in the school supply aisle of the local Walmart? |

Yes, Bob- plain construction paper. When it is saturated with epoxy, it behaves like vulcanized fiber material, but, of course, much thinner. It is possible to burn it if you get things too hot, so work slow and easy.

Don, Thats a bowie knife for you..... Another really fine blade. How did you find the new steel to work? Really like the construction paper, kind of opens up another door...

Very elegant. Love it. Of course I can say that about all your knives that I've seen.
By the way, what is the bolster material? Last edited by tinysuperbug; 08-08-2002 at 11:17 PM. |

Thank you all for your generous observations. The bolsters are 416 SS.

Don, that's beautiful! All your knives are. And the idea about using the construction paper is just killer. I've never been a fan of the thickness of the VF spacers. (There's another idea I'm going to have to "borrow" from the CKD forum!)

Sweet looking knife, Don!
Is that the biggest knife you make? 7 inches overall? |
