beltgrinders
i was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on making a homemade belt grinder?, i have made my own bench grinder and it works very well.. i do not have access to a welder or anything but i can drill holes in angle iron, etc.. and another thing, what kind of belts are used for the steel? also, what about the wheels to be used ?
if anyone can help me out, my email is pyrothon@gmail.com email me any information on this, pics or ebooks, anything. Thanks. |

I'm not sure there's any tips to be given here but you can get plans for a grinder called the No Weld Grinder from www.usaknifemakers.com As the name suggests, no welding is required. The plans will tell you what parts are needed and how to build a basic 2x72" grinder...

He is an link to the plans I used. They worked great, and have a complete hardware list with part numbers and everything else that you will need.
The person that made these plans did an excellent job! http://www.metalwebnews.com/manuals/knife-grinder.pdf The wheels can be purchased from http://www.beaumontmetalworks.com/sh...m.aspx?recid=3 Personally, I would purchase one from Beaumont Metal Works and find a good used 2hp motor. It is a big project and unless you already have the metal on hand the price adds-up quick especially if you have to buy the wheels. I doubt you will ever find a soul that regrets purchasing one from Rob, I have never heard anything but very happy customers. Brett |

Nwg
Hi ironice I also am in the planning phase and just bought the NWG plans. No real crazy tools needed so I jumped on that plan. I do have a father in law with all kinds of crazy tools but didn't want to drive him to crazy. I will weld it once it is set up I will post pics and any mods. Already had a few great mods I have been told about.
