I'm not sure why the Fisher family was having such a tough time deciding what to do with the Sam Houston Bowie.

Like the article say's, the one common thread among the people of Texas is their pride in their state, and its rich history. Ship it off to Orange, California for auction? I don't get it.

It just seems to me that the real decision should have been whether to leave it on loan to the San Jacinto Museum of History in La Porte, or possibly have it displayed at the Sam Houston Museum in Huntsville.

Oh well, there's always the possibility that the highest bidder will be some wealthy Texan who will bring it back home.

How about that. The Sam Houston Bowie is coming back home, thanks to a Dallas man with a spare $297,000. He paid $270,000 for the knife itself, and a 10 percent premium to the auction house.
