52100 in Damascus

Anyone ever use 52100 in their damascus? Im wanting to try a 52100 core in a San Mai type blade.
But the question Im having, is that with the somewhat diffrwnt heat treatment that 52100 needs to reach its optimum potential, would you Heat Treat the blade like a straight 52100 blade, and not a 10 series mixed damascus?

Just wondering!

God Bless
Mike

if it?s the (core )I would heat treat it like 52100, the outsides is window dressing , but if its in the mix then that something of another matter balance of the mix will determine a lot .what you mix it with will have an effect ==O1== L6 15&20 ==10xx will crate a new set of methods .

shotgun damascus

It was to pretty to do away with.I had to use it.I have about a foot left and plan on using it on a folder blade. My only suggestion is use pieces as thick as the core.Mast is important.Ed Caffrey told me that. Later Robert

Hello Mike,
I use the 52100 for both san mia and for mixing with the other nickel bearing steels. I will have a 4" skinner of 52100 core when I get to the AKA show in a couple of weeks. It turned out very nice, for me at least. I am still working on it so there is no pics available of it.
