Howdy
Am in Jackson Hole WY on vacation and found several knife shops, shed elk antler for sale. It's kinda spendy.
In the middle of town there is a park with huge elk antler arches, should have some pictures for the forums when we get home. __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |

Ya, thats one display of elk antler thats neat to see. If your in Jackson at the right time the Elk are right down in town and you can see hundreds and thousands of nice elk ....very very large bulls. I hear that the local boy scout troops gather the sheds to sale.
Theres even a little shop in town that has some nice knives in it . cant remember the maker. Its just south of that elk display.....if its still there. Shane |

Here in Denver now, visiting relatives.
Ther are two knife shops in Jackson that we found. "Knives and Tnings" is the one across the street from the park. Nice shop, they had some custom knives there. I talked to the owner Bryan Wilson, nice guy. Didn't see any custom knives in the other shop. __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. The antler in the store had 4-6 points, no pairs. Prices ranged from 45-70 dollars. Each elk antler would have been good for four or file folder handles plus the slabs for handles. __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |

Denver tools.
There is a huge flea market in Denver, 80 acres I've heard, everything under the sun is sold. Found a few bench hand tools, and a couple center punches.
Found a large nail in Golden CO parking lot near the Coors brewery. Will try to make a Coors blaciksmith knife or letter opener when I get home. __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |

Lots of mountains, Drove partly through Rockey Mt. National Park. Lots of elk grazing on the tundra about 10,000-12,00 feet up. The bulls antlers are still in velvet and not full size.
Hot and dry here. Takes some getting used to the weather for this Moss Back Puget sound old man __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |
