new best friend - steel blue
Just thought I would hare this. I was at the Novi show and picking up supplies from Koval's and saw a bottle of the Steel Blue. I have never bought it before figuring it is much cheaper just to use a marker or some spray paint. I bought some this time ($8.95)and am I ever glad I did. It is so much easier to do layouts and design changes. It goes on nicely, dries quickly and comes off easily with acetone. I have started using it for my center grind line, my bolster design and to ensure I have ground the next grit clean.
Hope this helps. Steve __________________ Stephen Vanderkolff Please come on over and check out my website. http://www.vanderkolffknives.com/ Thanks |

Steve,
Ive not tried the spray type, but have the brush on layout fluid. It is the cats whiskers for all the applications that steve mentioned! Ive started painting 2 coats on my blades prior to heat treating, and it may just be me, but it sems to help keep the blades scale free, not 100% scale free, but it seems to make a big diffrence.
