platen

like the new format.
Somewhere in my memory I have seen an ad for custom platens. Believe these were 12" long. Thinking about one for my Bader BIII. Anyone know who does these?
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Jeff, The Bader BIII has got to have the worse platen out of the box. Piece of angle iron... I took a piece of 9"x2" precision ground O1, heat treated it and tacked it onto my bader platen. I moved it back to accomodate of course, and lowered my rest to the bottom(*). When I wear my platen down, I will pop the beads and tack a new one on. I was going to fly-cut a piece of angle, cut it down to 9" sections, drill and slot, but the shop time was not worth the trouble!

(*)As I wear the platen down next to the rest(like profiling), I ease my rest up as I go.
