New/Old Mill (gotta love my Dad!)
Some times I think I have the best father. You see my dad is the one that taught me most of what I know about tools. Growing up we had enough money to get by, but if we wanted something, more often then not we built it our selves. Everything from room additions to a bicyle built for two.
Well now my Dad has found out that the man whose shop he spends a great deal of time in, is moving. So my Dad needs to move some of his tools. And as result, he has decided to give me his "spare" Bridgeport Mill. So now I just have to move the beast. Right now the current plan is to rent an Auto Trailer. Barrow a forklift from the shop next door at the loading end and use a pallet jack barrowed from my office at my end. It's going to be a lot of back breaking work. But it will sure be worth it. __________________ Scott B. I've moved around a lot of BPs in my day, and I can give you a word of advice or two if you need it. One thing is for sure, is not to feel like you have to move it all in one piece! Take the head off. You can disassemble a BP right down to the base, and move all the parts individually. That'll be a lot easier. If its seen better days, maybe then is the time to put in new quill bearings and send it out for media blasting and new paint. |
