MAy 10th W.I.P.

Sat 10th WIP

Today I won't be doing any heavy dirty work so I am representing today
Yeah.... Still didn't stay clean though.

Thanks for the t-shirt Brian

Got some jams....

Anyways.....

Jimping or Thumb Grooves.*
Tom Krein got me going in the right direction with this. I have a smallest amount of lines per inch checkering file. Ground down the 1/2 groove that came on it when I got it and use it with this.*

I simply pinch the tang where I want the grooves to start and use my thumb as a guide.*

Move up on the blade as much as I'd like and repeat ......

Here is what ya get

I normally do this on 0-1 blades after the handle is shaped as the spine isn't normally hardened.*

I have that small 5" knife all shiny and edged dehorned around the edges and I am attempting a used or ages look. I pat cold blueing on and go for a swim in bleach. Hope it works out!!!!! Repeat as needed and etch quickly to uniform the look.......that's the plan anyways!!!!

Here she is currently.....shaking head and biting nails

First bath didn't do what I wanted. Second attempt in fresh bleach.*

Yup....that's rust

Don't know if all this is worth it or not but I don't know how to get subtle look unless you do multiple bleach baths and then smooth it out with the ferric dips.*
