That's a good question, Robert.
I'd like to, but I don't have the proper equipment, such as a quench tank. I'm quite familiar with heat treating carbon steels, but I like to show pictures in the classes as I go to demonstrate the work. I don't believe a picture of me quenching a blade in a container of transmission oil or olive oil would be very impressive.
Now if somebody would donate a gas furnace with protective atmosphere and an automatic quench I'd be happy to include that.
Or even better, a vacuum furnace with automatic quench like D'Holder uses.
That wouldn't help most knifemakers though. Most don't have that equipment either.
Seriously, I prefer to make all my blades from various "stainless" steels, and I have everything necessary for that.
