You might also try looking at a newspaper type magazine called KnifeWorld at knifeworld.com there is a listing in the back for knife collector clubs called club corner, it lists locations and contact information, also lists events. I'd think someone in your area could be a resource.
I see in the latest issue there is a group in New England called the Northeast Cutlery Collectors Assoc.
