Since I live in CA. I am able to get good prices on CA. Buckeye burl and use a lot of it. I have to agree with Ed and only use it after it has been stabilized. There is several good companys that do a excellant job of stabilizing your wood. I do not reccommend home brew stabilization, use the commercial companies that know how to do it right. Two off the top of my head are River Ridge and WSSI.
In fact I have all my wood stabilized except Coco Bolo, desert ironwood, black & tan Ebony as they have such a oil content that they are hard to stabilize or do not need it.
