Andy I bought a 4 ounce bottle of FC powder off of Ebay and used 2 teaspoons of it in a quart of distilled water. Later added another teaspoon and equal amount of white vinegar to speed up the etching process.
It takes about 1 hour to get the deep etch I want on Alabama Damascus steel. I could add more FC, but I prefer the 1 hour time for the etching. The seller on Ebay was Loudwolf limited. This was about 3 years ago.
