uuummmmm.... that sounds like one of those "bite the bullet" situations. not all mistakes are easy to fix situations.
carefully try to drill it out and replace it. then learn the lesson it has to teach. if you mess upon drilling it out, then you could end up having to replace the handle materials and corby rivets completely.
