Like many companies, John Deere gave away (or sold) tons of promotional knives over their many years of existence. They were made on contract by various manufacturers, and probably foreign ones. Not so many years ago, it was common for just about every man to have a pocket knife on him, and certainly every farmer had one. There is a John Deere knife collectors area on Ebay. Now, is the knife worth anything? If it was pristine and rare and in it's original box, maybe as much as $75. Used and not in it's box, maybe $5 or $10. You can probably search the people who buy boxes of confiscated knives from the TSA and get similar knives for pretty cheap.

What you have is a neat family heirloom and it might look cool on display. Life would be so much better if our elders stored bars of gold instead of old pocket knives and ink pens.
