My thoughts too. I saw that listing and did not even bother to inquire ( from Seller or Chat room members ) about that oddity .

I felt pretty sure it was not shop made like that. They ended the furnace link in 1944 and never went back to it . A drilled through hole would be easier to do and more durable. I have seen many WWII Randall knives with busted furnace links .

I assume that is the reason the shop ended the furnace link just before the end of WWII ?
