Hi Art,

I hope you don't mind even more "and then some" Moosehead did a great job splainin' but I can add a few pics:

The 1st batch of 9 Bird and Trouts were made by Bill Platts in October of 1946. One of these was given to Bo's good friend Litch Steinman and the the remainder were given to dealers. These 9 knives differed from those made thereafter in that the stock was only 1/8th thick (vs. 3/16th). The top knife in the photo below is the one made for Litch and the bottom one handled in ivory was made for a gentleman who ran a sportingsgoods store at Walloon Lake where Bo had a vacation hime.





There was a "gap" in catalog years between 1945 and 1948, although there were 3 versions of the 1945 catalog. In the last version Bo inserted a flyer introducing the Model 8 as follows. In the 1948 catalog the Model 8 tooks it's place along side it's brethern.
