First Lansky kit I had was the basic three stone. Course (Red), Medium (Green), and Fine (Blue). I bought it in the service and carried everywhere with me. During FTXs I'd pull it out and sharpen knives for people just to pass the time.

I've got a five stone kit now. I also purchased the "sapphire" stone as well. Lanksy does wonders for me in putting and maintaining an edge on a blade.

The one negative thing about the Lansky is the screw/guide rod connection. If you don't tighten it enough the rod will work loose. Over tighten and the plastic prematurely wears and will eventually break.
