What's the optimum SFM for finishing work? I've recently finished my slow grinder for finishing, and I think I slowed it down too much. What range should I be shooting for?

Jamie allan lanigan 01-05-2002, 07:55 PM Depends if your hollow grinding or flat grinding,i think most will grind at different speeds suiting there own requirements so i think you will get a lot of different replys, myself i will usually do most of my hollow grinding at 3000 fpm using a 12 inch wheel, and about 500fpm using a small wheel attachment. Some finishing flat grinding real slow 50fpm. Hope you get more replys.. Geno 01-07-2002, 08:36 PM I'm a wide open kind of guy I guess. I have V/S machines, but I run full speed most of the time. ( about 3500fpm I think I read) I have one with step pulleys, but don't mess with them. Wish I could help you more. |
