After reading Achim's post on the performance benifits of nickle (Thank You Achim!)
I have been wondering on a subject that I have been pondering. If anyone here has a view or opinion, please jump in!

I have been wanting to make some chefs blades with a stainless covering over a carbon core to help eleminate the staining of the main portion of the blade ( I know the edge will turn) This may not be the brightest thing Ive done, but its in my head and I need to get it out! LOL

My question is this. If I were to sandwich a high carbon core with a billet of high layer mild steel / Nickle with a outer layer of nickle, would it be stain resistant? Would it be food safe?

Just thinking that it would be simpler / more chance of satisfactory welds if I used nickle instead of satinless. There may be a BIG reason that this isnt done, Im just not that knowledgable on the use of pure nickle.

Any opinions would be appreciated!

God Bless
Mike
