I just looked at Doug's site ...

I can see right now that I need to increase our rates at AV. $1000 dollars a day for tech consulting on photographic techniques? Man ... what a life!

Doug, invest a couple of those dollars in your business and we'll build you a real web site. The competition is pretty strong out here, my man!

I've used Doug's photography in the past, and have had several pictures published that he took for me.

When I first met Doug, he was making knives, and doing some of the best knife photography available. He lives close to me so it was easy for me to hand deliver my knives to him and wait while he took pictures. Like many professionals, his knife photography evolved into more high paying venues, wedding, portrait, and teaching, he had little time to continue with knife photography.

I know from talking to him, and his love for knives, that he missed the association he had previously had with knifemakers, and wanted to do something to share his skills. He has been planning on this video, and photography course, for several years. I have heard some good reports from a couple of makers that have been using Doug's course for awhile now, with great results. I ordered my course today, I already have a good camera, so I expect to be able to set up for minimal $$.

I'll do a follow up post here after I've had a chance to try it out.

Well, I may have to join in as well. I had voiced some hesitation in an earlier post, but with the recommendation from Johnny and Don, I can certainly assume it will be money well spent. Thanks for the info guys.

Doug has been around Terry. He shot one of my knives back in '93 or'94 and it made it into Blade and Fighting Knives.
