I'm looking for suggestions on some great sites or books on hamon activity and techniques. I'd like to research how some of the more traditional activities are created, but need to get headed in the right direction.

There is a book, I don't have it handy but I believe the title is 'The Art of the Japanese Sword' that discusses the subject in detail.

also, you may want to look through some of the links over at Don's site (http://www.dfoggknives.com/) , he has several links to japanese sword sites listed that may have the info you need.
