Steve,
I Humbly appologize if ANY offense was taken.
We like to play around A LOT.
No one wants to hurt here,or be hurt.
We all come here to have fun and help each other.

This place is for everyone who wants to be a part.
Steve,We very much want you're input.
Do not shy away --We need you!

We all have voices but we use them differently.
No one is wrong because of where they were they born.

War is not funny, neither is life unless you find the humor and bring it out.

I look to find humor in life's unpleasantries.(if that is a word)
Please accept this "slang" conversion chart as a token of PEACE.

Ya'll---means yoos' guys.
Fix'n-- doesn't mean it is broken but rather a preparation for something.
Gonna-- same thing.

Bad--means good.
Good means good.
Cool--means good.
Bueno--Fly--awsome--sweet and radical all mean good too.
Wait a minute,this might be harder than I thought.
It is confusing me now.

Hey Boys help us out here,OK?
We want to communicate better with our Amigos who live up north,right?
Share some of our vernacular so we can bridge this gap.

You Yanks do the same,too OK?
Or should I say,"Bite ya off a big 'ol chaw and chunk it our way wood ya?
Learn us how to tawk good.

Language is only a barrier if we let it be.

Steve, All kidding aside,we want and need you here.
Please do not allow anyone(esspecially me)to hinder the spirit here.
We are now just bigger boys with bigger toys.
NO ONE should leave here offended...NO ONE!!!!!!!
Please ,accept this appology from my humble heart.

Must be something in the air. Was there a full moon last night? I was just over at Ed Caffery's forum apologizing for something that might have been misunderstood. Then the fellow I was apologizing to apologized right back thinking that I might have misunderstood him.

Okay everybody -- group hug. Now, that's better.

How about some more Southern slang conversions? I love this stuff. There are thousands of them. Here's a few good ones:

hunerd = hundred
I gave three hunerd dollars for that knife.

bleeve = believe
I bleeve three hunerd was a fair price.

reckon = suppose, or Do you suppose
I reckon you're right.

Ida = I would have
I bleeve Ida even paid four hunerd.

anuthern = another one
Reckon he's got anuthern for sale?

acupla = a couple of
Yep, he's got acupla more.

pitcher = picture
Hey, get ole Steve Korn to take a pitcher of it.

I'm posting this for Steve Korn. Since he got his cable modem his pc flies, but when it don't fly it goes down in flames. :evil: Steve's having problems posting, he can't figure out if it's his reconfigured machine or ez-boards, but he can't stay away so here's what he asked me to post:

"I am very touched by the outpouring of emotion from all you nice sensitive gentleman from the South. Actually I wasn't really insulted by your posts and it was fun going back and forth. Gene and Terry you do not have to explain yourselves!!! I must admit that some of the vernacular was foreign to me, but I will get used to it.

Bob thanks for the offer of an interpreter, but it won't be necessary. I use Jens when I need one.

In closing I hope that I didn't insult anyone and I'm here if you have any questions on photography. If I can't answer them, Richard or Terrill may.

Very Sincerely,
Steve Korn"

Steve,

I actually use two modes of speaking. I have my everyday "Southern drawl", for communication among family and friends, and what I refer to as my "business voice" which I use at work, especially when communicating with our friends from the North, or clients and other professionals from other countries over the phone.

I have actually had my own mother not recognize my voice when she called me at work. It went something like this:

"Data center, Terry speaking".

"Oh, I'm sorry, I was trying to reach Terry Primos".

"Hey momma, It's me".

"Oh, you sounded so... different".

"It's my business voice momma".

Anyway, sometimes when writing I will switch between or sometimes mix the two modes, purposely misspelling words to give them that "country boy" flavor, or using some of the Southern vernacular.

It is quite understandable that periodically, local or regional vernacular may throw someone off. As Gene pointed out, depending on who you are talking to, bad may actually mean bad, or it may mean good.

I can imagine how difficult it can get for our European friends to follow our ramblings sometimes. One of the funniest things I can remember here was once when Roger Gregory (from England) got a little befuddled with some of our nonsense, and said something like "I'm sorry, but my first language is English". :lol:

Anyway, I hope you get your PC back into good health real soon. We'll be here with open arms when you do.

If we keep this up, we can have a Yank-to draw/slang translater dictionary for you in no time.
See how much we want to help?(PLAY)NO-HELP!---NO PLAY!!!
Well anyway you get the picture,now.
We HAVE fun in everything we do.
I am a 40 year old KID. I admit it. I play with my 2 year old son and my wife gets on to us BOTH!
Aaron(my son)is the last of our children and when He goes to college,I'm going to have to grow up,(but NOT till then).
My oldest daughter is ready to learn how to drive a car.
4 daughters and one boy,(GOD does have a sense of humor)makes a full house.
Just for the record,I'm all for that group hug,OK?
BE BLESSED!!!

One of my friends from Georgia always tells me this joke when I go visiting "whats the difference between a yankee and a #### yankee?" answer: "A yankee just comes down to visit, a #### yankee moves down here!" :lol:

Actually in the states we don't speak English, we speak American and there are hundreds if not thousands of dialects. You think you just have them in the south? Try listening to someone from Brooklyn or Long Island or Yonkers or the Bronx or Boston, each one is distictly different. :)

Thanks for the fast education, my accent would give me away in a heartbeat. Lucky these are posts not coversations. I speak to Alex now & again and understand about 25% of his rapid drawl.
Now yawl have a goodun,

I'm from Brooklyn, but after being in Navy Boot Camp with a bunch of southeners when I went home I was saying stuff like, "Gawd Dammmm!" and "I got to put some Earl in the car." That went over real big in the neighborhood bar.

Brooklyn is famous for having a language all it's own, but I have to tell you "Turdy turd and turd" isn't a Brooklyn accent it's Jersey City.

One of the most common expressions is "Geet yet?" which translates to "Did you eat yet?"

If you want a fun site try,
