Gene Lee: Well planned composition great exposure sure got the handle texture. The blade took on a slight bit of the background that it was leaning on, but all and all this was the best picture. Congatulations Gene for a superior effort.

Alex and Rade: This was a shoot out and you both deserved to win. In my opinion it could have been a three way tie. Tough one to lose.

Richard: I thought this was one of your best and I can't imagine why you didn't get votes.

Terrill: This was sort of a bland effort for you it lacked the Hoffmann pizazz. Was not a sharp pic.

Dogman: I guess "you can't bring a knife to a gun fight". Good composition, good lighting, but too much gun.

Max: I guess I wasn't enough help. You needed to raise the knife a little above the coals so you wouldn't have lost the handle. You could have built the coal up in the center and placed the knife on the high point.

Mondt: You need to work on your composition. The background was not too descriptive and your knife didn't stand out. You have the ability to make your pic at least 60 KB and that would help in the future. Keep trying!!!

All in all this was a terrific week and there is continuing improvement by one and all. There was a good voter turnout, thanks guys!!!

It wasn't that my gun was too big, it was that my knife was too small. I guess it had barrel envy.

Terrill - Great profile shot. It looks like natural lighting, but I would have liked to see less shadow on the side. Gee, who'se a lefty?:)

Max - Very nice shot of the knife, but not enough contrast with the background. Not pic related, but I love that blade shape.

Doug - The baby blue frame takes my eye away from the knife. I think if you laid the knife completely on whatever you were using for the background, it would have came out really nice.

Rade - The knife and the Malachite compliment each other well, but the back of the couch clashes with the colors and context. If you coud have angled the knife so the underside and blade grind showed up better, it would have appealed to me more.

Gene - Everything came together in this picture. Complimentary textures, colors, and setting. The sharpness is phenominal. The only inconsistency I could see is the lighting on the blade changed toward the tip, but the knife just jumps off the page.

Alex - Fantastic picture, but the calendar killed it for me. I think a nice, warm executive desk setting would have put you over the top.

Richard - The clarity and sharpness on the knife are just phenominal. I have yet to get a knife that clear.

Steve - The colors of the feather and the blued bolsters on the knife are a perfect combination, but the lines of the feather pulled my eyes away from the knife.

Bob - Crap. I must flog myself now.

another week and another also ran, but I am getting better. my main problem is all the other guys are getting better faster.
I thought Todds picture was "out of this world"-Great
Korns was very decorative but tasteful
Alex was crystal clear as usual
Dogman had his best to date, I think
Gene was just plain outstanding!
This was the best week so far. Over half the photos could have won. This just shows what can happen when the competition gets tough. I dont have any thing new but I will look thru some of my old stuff and see if it will make a decent shot for week 12
